How Injectable Fillers Work

Our Injectable Fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body that hydrates, plumps, and firms the skin by binding with nearby water molecules. When injected below the surface of the skin, fillers work by padding in the space beneath a wrinkle, crease, or area of volume loss. This pushes the skin back upwards to correct the flaw. Injectable Fillers work synergistically with many of our other procedures, including Botox and Xeomin for powerful rejuvenation results.

What Areas Can be Treated With Injectable Fillers? And, What do Treatments Feel Like?

Injectable Fillers are a popular choice for plumping the lips, contouring jawline, restoring lost volume to the cheeks and under eye area, and contouring the jawline. Wrinkles associated with aging, such as smile lines, laugh lines, marionette lines, and ‘smokers’ lines around the lips can also be treated successfully with filler.


Your comfort during treatment is paramount to us. Our Juvéderm fillers contain a numbing agent in their formula called lidocaine. You may find that the first few injections may sting slightly, but once the effects of the lidocaine kicks in, treatment is comfortable and tolerable. If you are concerned about pain during treatment, please let your injector know as we offer solutions designed to ease pain and anxiety during treatment.

Injectable Filler Safety & Recovery

Because Juvéderm is made from Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body, there is no need for allergy testing before treatment, making it very safe for use. If you have a history of allergies to lidocaine, please let your injector know prior to treatment.
Our highly experienced injectors are also trained in best safety and treatment practices by our Medical Director, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. William Pittas, so you can trust that your injectable treatment at Soma Aesthetic is not only safe, but will also yield fabulous results. There is minimal recovery after an injectable filler treatment. You may have some slight bruising, swelling, tenderness or firmness in the treated area. This typically resolves quickly, in 7 days or less and is often easily concealed with makeup.

Juvéderm® Ultra Plus XC

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is a dermal hyaluronic acid filler used to add volume to the face, especially to the cheeks and the lips. Produced by Allergan, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is approved to restore moderate-to-severe facial volume loss. This filler contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic that reduces pain.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is an excellent choice to add volume to the lips and provide a natural, beautiful pout. It is unique in that the results are extremely long-lasting and can endure for up to two years. Most patients start with 1 syringe in their initial treatment, and may return for further syringes if they would like additional volume.
